  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • ¼ teaspoon soy sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 teaspoon water, optional
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch, optional
  • 1 egg beaten 
  • 1 drop yellow food coloring, optional
  • ½ ground white pepper
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh chives

Step 1

Pour chicken broth, sesame oil and soy sauce in a saucepan over medium heat; boil it.

Step 2

In a small bowl stir water and cornstarch together until cornstarch dissolves: now add in boiling soup.

Step 3

Add food coloring, Slowly add beaten egg in the broth, stirring constantly. Season with salt and white.Serve warm, and can be garnished with chives.

How to store egg drop soup?

To store the egg drop soup, let it cool,then transfer it to an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.  You can reheat it on the stove when needed and also you can reheat it in the microwave.

I suggest you don’t freeze egg drop soup, because the texture of the egg can become a little rubbery, and its taste will not remain as fresh soup.
